Graduate Student
Raphael was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan. He attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where he double majored in biology and chemistry. While at Emory University, he studied the effects of the inflammasome in skin cancer development via transgenic mouse models and confocal microscopy under Dr. Lindsey Seldin. He also worked on the synthesis of avocado-derived acetogenins under the guidance of Dr. Todd Lowary of Academia Sinica prior to joining Caltech. When not in the lab, Raphael can be found cooking, baking bread, playing guitar, or looking for his next mahjong session.
